Giridih Police arrest three accused after rescuing two girls allegedly forced into prostitution in the Pachamba area
Giridih: In a major crackdown on human trafficking in Jharkhand, police claimed to have busted a sex trafficking racket operating in Giridih district and rescued two girls who were allegedly being forced into prostitution. Three people have been arrested in connection with the case, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out in the Pachamba police station limits following a specific intelligence input received by local authorities regarding illegal trafficking activities inside a residential property.
According to Bimal Kumar, police acted swiftly after receiving credible information that two girls were allegedly being held and exploited in a house in the area.
Giridih Police Launch SIT Operation
Following the tip-off, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police R K Rana was constituted to investigate the matter and conduct a raid.
Police teams subsequently raided the suspected location and safely rescued the two girls from the premises. During the operation, three accused individuals allegedly involved in the trafficking network were arrested.
Authorities stated that preliminary investigation indicates the girls were being forced into prostitution against their will. However, police have not yet disclosed the identities of the rescued girls or the accused due to the sensitivity of the case.
Human Trafficking Investigation Intensifies in Jharkhand
Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine whether the racket had links to larger interstate trafficking networks. Investigators are also trying to identify additional victims and possible accomplices connected to the operation.
The rescued girls are currently under protection and are expected to receive counselling and rehabilitation support as part of the legal process.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over rising human trafficking and exploitation cases in parts of Jharkhand and eastern India.
Officials said strict legal action would be taken against everyone involved in the illegal trafficking network.
“The operation was launched immediately after receiving information. The victims were rescued safely, and three accused persons have been arrested,” police officials said during the investigation update.
Law enforcement agencies have urged citizens to report suspicious activities related to trafficking, exploitation or illegal confinement to help prevent such crimes.
