Hyderabad: Panic gripped passengers and railway staff at Nampally railway station in Hyderabad after two air-conditioned coaches of the Hyderabad–Jaipur Express caught fire just minutes before the scheduled departure on Friday evening. The incident triggered an immediate emergency response as flames rapidly engulfed the coaches, sending thick smoke into the station premises.

According to railway officials, the fire broke out in two AC coaches while the train was stationed at Nampally railway station and preparing for departure toward Jaipur. By the time emergency crews arrived and launched fire control operations, both coaches had already suffered extensive damage and were almost completely destroyed.

Authorities confirmed that the affected coaches were empty at the time of the incident, which prevented a potentially major tragedy. Since no passengers were inside the compartments when the fire erupted, no injuries or casualties were reported.

Railway staff immediately secured the surrounding area and moved passengers away from the affected section as thick smoke spread across the platform.
“The coaches were unoccupied when the fire broke out, and that helped prevent any loss of life,” railway officials said.
Railway Fire Emergency Response
Fire and emergency service teams rushed to the station soon after the alarm was raised. After an intensive operation, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to other coaches of the train.

Railway authorities temporarily halted movement around the affected platform while emergency operations were underway.

Investigation Into Train Fire Begins
Officials have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Initial reports have not confirmed whether the blaze was caused by an electrical short circuit, technical failure, or another operational issue.

A technical inspection of the damaged coaches has been ordered, and further updates are expected after forensic and railway safety teams complete their examination.
