Viral X post by former teacher Ankita Singh highlights workload pressure, salary cuts, and working conditions in private schools

Gorakhpur: A viral post shared on the social media platform X has triggered a nationwide debate over the working conditions of private school teachers after a woman from Gorakhpur allegedly resigned from her teaching job and spoke publicly about the pressure faced by educators in private institutions.

The post, shared by a user identified as FAYAN, claimed that Ankita Singh, a private school teacher from Gorakhpur, left her profession after facing excessive workload, strict disciplinary rules, and multiple responsibilities beyond classroom teaching.

The statement, “Stop calling us teachers, we are just Dihadi Mazdur now,” quickly gained attention online, with several users supporting the concerns raised regarding teacher exploitation and deteriorating respect for the profession.

Private School Teachers Facing Heavy Workload and Low Salaries

According to the viral post, teachers in many private schools are allegedly expected to handle multiple subjects and non-academic duties simultaneously. The post claimed that educators are often assigned responsibilities including English teaching, grammar classes, spoken English training, computer lessons, dance activities, event management, and social media content creation for schools.

The post further alleged that teachers may even face warnings or financial penalties for speaking in Hindi during school hours in some institutions.

It also claimed that teachers are frequently asked to shoot promotional videos, edit reels for school social media pages, coordinate events, and perform administrative work beyond academic responsibilities.

“If teachers are forced to do everything except teach peacefully, then who is actually responsible for destroying respect for this profession?” the viral post questioned.

Social media users reacted strongly to the issue, with many claiming that private school teachers are overworked and underpaid despite carrying significant responsibility in shaping students’ futures.

Social Media Reactions Support Concerns Raised by Teacher

Several users on X expressed support for Ankita Singh and highlighted what they described as the harsh reality of the private education sector.

One user wrote that teachers today are “completely overburdened and underpaid” while being expected to perform duties beyond teaching responsibilities. Another social media user stated that schools treating teachers as multitasking workers instead of educators are damaging the dignity and respect associated with the profession.

N.K. Yadav also commented that the issue raises important questions regarding the present condition and societal respect for teachers working in private institutions.

Similarly, Chandan Verma stated that unrealistic expectations, excessive discipline policies, and low salaries are pushing talented individuals away from the teaching profession.

Debate Over Private School Working Conditions Intensifies

The viral discussion has reignited concerns over employment conditions in India’s private education sector, where teachers have often raised complaints regarding salary structures, workload pressure, contractual insecurity, and lack of work-life balance.

Education experts believe the issue highlights the growing commercialization of schooling, where teachers are increasingly being assigned marketing and operational tasks alongside academic responsibilities.

The viral post continues to generate debate online, with many users demanding reforms to ensure better working conditions, fair salaries, and professional dignity for teachers across private schools.
