New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has announced elections for 24 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states, including Karnataka, following the upcoming retirements of members from the Upper House in June and July.
The announcement covers key vacancies arising in Karnataka as well as Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Manipur, setting the stage for a crucial electoral process in the coming weeks.

Rajya Sabha Seats Vacant Across Multiple States
The elections have been announced by the Election Commission of India to fill 24 seats that will fall vacant due to the retirement cycle of members from multiple states.
In Karnataka, the terms of members, including HD Deve Gowda and Mallikarjun Kharge, are among those nearing completion along with other representatives whose tenure ends in the coming cycle.

According to the announced timetable, the last date for filing nominations is June 8. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 9, while the final date for withdrawal of candidature is June 11.
Polling will be conducted on June 18 between 9 am and 4 pm. Counting of votes will begin the same day at 5 pm, ensuring a single-day completion of the electoral process.
