Kota police constable arrested and suspended after allegedly assaulting shopkeeper and vandalising fast food outlet while intoxicated
Kota: A Rajasthan Police constable was arrested and suspended after allegedly creating chaos at a fast food shop in Kota while under the influence of alcohol, triggering outrage after videos of the incident surfaced on social media.
The accused constable, identified as Ajit, allegedly assaulted the shopkeeper, vandalised property and misbehaved with customers at a fast food centre located near the police lines in the Nayapura police station limits.
The incident reportedly occurred late at night after the constable became angry over a delay in preparing a pizza order.
Drunk Constable Creates Ruckus at Kota Fast Food Shop
According to local reports, Constable Ajit arrived at the shop in an intoxicated condition and ordered pizza. When the food preparation took longer than expected, he allegedly lost his temper and started verbally abusing the shopkeeper.
Eyewitnesses claimed the situation quickly escalated as the constable allegedly threw tables and chairs, damaged shop property and created panic in the area.
Shopkeeper Ramu Agarwal alleged that the accused was heavily intoxicated and became more aggressive after people started recording videos of the incident.
“He was completely drunk and out of control. When we tried to stop him, he slapped me and assaulted my nephew,” the shopkeeper alleged.
Locals also claimed the constable tore the clothes of one of the victims during the altercation and later removed his own T-shirt while continuing to create disturbance on the road.
Shopkeeper Alleges Assault and Gold Chain Snatching
The shop owner further alleged that the constable snatched a gold chain from his neck during the confrontation. Witnesses claimed the accused also stopped passing motorists and allegedly abused people on the road.
Videos circulating on social media reportedly show the constable throwing furniture outside the outlet while bystanders attempted to calm him down.
Residents questioned the delayed police response despite the police lines and the office of the Superintendent of Police being located nearby.
Kota Police Arrest Constable After Viral Video
Following complaints, police officials from Rajasthan Police reached the location and detained the accused constable.
Officials confirmed that a medical examination and alcohol test established that the constable had consumed alcohol. He was subsequently arrested on charges related to disturbing public peace.
Nayapura Police Station Inspector Vinod Kumar stated that a report regarding the incident was submitted to Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam.
Based on the preliminary findings, the accused constable was suspended with immediate effect.
Police officials said a detailed investigation has now been launched into allegations of assault, vandalism and gold chain snatching based on the complaint filed by the shopkeeper.
