47 days after woman’s suicide, her alleged lover dies by poisoning as note alleging Rs 6 lakh dispute changes police probe
Datia: A sensational double suicide mystery from Datia has taken a dramatic turn after a suicide note recovered from a man’s pocket allegedly revealed a financial dispute involving lakhs of rupees, shifting the focus of the entire investigation.
The shocking case emerged from the Bhander police station area, where a woman identified as Mamta Dohre allegedly died by suicide on April 3. Just 47 days later, a man identified as Monu Sengar, who was reportedly in a relationship with her, also allegedly died after consuming poison.
Initially, investigators suspected the second death was emotionally linked to the earlier suicide. However, police say a handwritten suicide note found in Monu’s pocket before his death has now introduced a possible debt angle into the case.
Authorities are currently investigating the two deaths together while examining allegations related to financial transactions, land deals and personal disputes.
Woman’s Suicide Followed by Boyfriend’s Death After 47 Days
According to police sources, 45-year-old Mamta Dohre, a resident of Tighra Khiriya village in Bhander tehsil, allegedly died by suicide by hanging inside her house on the night of April 3.
Following the incident, police registered a case and began questioning individuals connected to the woman.
Family members alleged that Mamta had maintained a long-term relationship with Monu Sengar, a resident of Thakuras Mohalla in Bhander. Sources claimed the two had reportedly argued on the day of the incident, after which the woman allegedly took the extreme step.
After Mamta’s death, police reportedly registered a case of abetment to suicide against Monu Sengar.
Investigators also revealed that Monu allegedly attempted suicide on April 5 by consuming sulphas poison, but survived after receiving medical treatment.
However, police said Monu continued to remain under severe stress in the weeks that followed.
On Friday afternoon, Monu allegedly consumed poison once again. Family members reportedly contacted emergency services after his condition deteriorated, but doctors later declared him dead at the hospital.
Suicide Note Introduces Rs 6 Lakh Debt Allegation
Police officials stated that the investigation changed significantly after officers recovered a suicide note from Monu’s pocket.
The note allegedly claimed that Monu was under severe financial pressure linked to a land transaction and unpaid dues amounting to ₹6 lakh.
According to the contents of the note, Monu alleged that he had sold land to a man identified as Arvind Singh Rajawat but never received the full payment.
The letter further claimed that Monu had borrowed money from several individuals and was forced to sell his wife’s jewellery after failing to recover the pending amount.
“I am not dying willingly. Arvind Singh Rajawat is responsible for my death,” the note allegedly stated.
Police are currently verifying the authenticity of the suicide note and examining claims related to the alleged land transaction and financial dispute.
Police Probe Love Affair, Land Deal and Suicide Cases Together
Investigators stated that Monu was a farmer and father of two children. His death has left the family devastated while sparking widespread discussion across the region.
Meanwhile, Mamta’s husband, Rajendra Singh, has also made serious allegations in connection with the case. He claimed that Mamta and Monu were in a relationship, but alleged that their relationship later deteriorated.
Rajendra Singh further alleged that Monu had blackmailed his wife and threatened her, raising questions over the circumstances that led to her death.
According to local sources, police had reportedly visited Monu’s house shortly before his death in connection with the earlier abetment case, but he was not found there.
