NTA postpones CUET UG exams scheduled on May 28 after revised Eid ul Adha holiday announcement

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency has postponed the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate 2026 examinations scheduled for May 28, following the central government's revision of the Bakrid holiday date.

The postponement applies to both examination shifts planned for May 28, and the agency has confirmed that revised dates for affected candidates will be announced separately in the coming days.

The decision was officially communicated through a public notice issued by the National Testing Agency on Sunday.

CUET UG 2026 Postponement Announced After Bakrid Holiday Revision
According to the notice, the examination schedule was revised after the Department of Personnel and Training issued an office memorandum on May 22 regarding the updated holiday date for Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakrid.

The NTA stated that the change was necessary to ensure that students appearing for the national-level undergraduate entrance examination do not face inconvenience due to the festival holiday adjustment.

Thousands of candidates across India are expected to be affected by the postponement, as CUET UG remains one of the country’s largest university entrance examinations conducted for admissions into central and participating universities.
“Revised examination dates for affected candidates will be announced later,” the NTA said in its official notice.
Students Await Revised CUET UG Examination Schedule
Candidates who were scheduled to appear for the May 28 examination are now awaiting new examination dates and updated admit card information from the testing agency.

Students have been advised to regularly monitor the official NTA and CUET websites for the latest updates regarding rescheduled examinations, revised city intimation slips, and admit cards.

Education experts noted that sudden schedule changes close to examination dates can create anxiety among candidates, particularly those traveling between cities for the entrance test.

Bakrid Holiday Change Impacts National Examination Calendar
The revision in the Eid ul Adha holiday date reportedly prompted multiple institutions and government departments to reconsider scheduled activities during the period.

The Department of Personnel and Training’s memorandum issued earlier this week officially revised the holiday schedule, leading the NTA to postpone the examination to avoid clashes with festival observances.

The move has generally been viewed as an administrative step to ensure smoother conduct of examinations and convenience for students and staff during the holiday period.

CUET UG Remains Key Entrance Exam for University Admissions
CUET UG is conducted annually for undergraduate admissions into central universities and several participating higher education institutions across India.

Lakhs of students appear for the examination every year seeking admission to courses in arts, science, commerce, humanities, and other academic streams.

Further announcements regarding revised examination dates are expected from the NTA soon.
