Agra: A tragic accident at an amusement facility in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy after a zipline cable allegedly snapped mid-ride, causing him to fall nearly 45 feet to the ground, police officials confirmed on Monday.
The victim has been identified as Kunal Agrawal, son of Firozabad-based bangle trader Pankaj Agrawal. The incident occurred around 6 pm on Sunday at a recreational facility located in the Tajganj area of Agra, where the teenager had gone with his family for an outing.
According to officials, Kunal was enjoying the zipline attraction when the cable reportedly snapped midway during the ride, leading to the fatal fall.

Eyewitnesses at the site described scenes of panic and chaos immediately after the teenager crashed to the ground from a significant height. Family members and visitors reportedly rushed toward the spot while staff members attempted to respond to the emergency.
The injured boy was quickly shifted for medical treatment, but doctors were unable to save him due to the severity of the injuries sustained in the fall.
Police officials stated that preliminary findings suggest a possible technical failure in the zipline mechanism, although a detailed investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident.
“The cable allegedly snapped while the boy was midway through the ride,” police officials said during the initial inquiry.
Safety Standards Under Scrutiny After Fatal Zipline Fall
The tragic incident has sparked serious concerns regarding safety protocols and maintenance standards at amusement and adventure activity facilities across Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities are now examining whether the recreational site followed mandatory safety regulations, conducted regular equipment inspections, and maintained operational standards for high-risk rides such as ziplines.
Investigators are also likely to question the management regarding safety certification, staff training, and emergency preparedness procedures at the facility.

Police teams reached the spot soon after the incident and began collecting evidence from the amusement site. Officials stated that statements from staff members, witnesses, and the victim’s family are being recorded as part of the investigation.
Authorities may also inspect technical records related to the zipline installation and maintenance history.
Adventure Ride Safety Concerns Rise Nationwide
The Agra accident has once again highlighted the growing need for stricter regulation and periodic inspection of amusement rides and adventure sports facilities in India.
Experts warn that negligence in equipment maintenance, poor operational oversight, and a lack of emergency safeguards can quickly turn recreational activities into fatal disasters.
The administration is expected to take further action based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
