Gang drags Uber cab driver out of vehicle and assaults him on KH Road as Wilson Garden Police launch investigation

Bengaluru: A shocking case of road violence in Bengaluru has triggered outrage after an Uber cab driver was allegedly dragged out of his vehicle and brutally assaulted by a group of men on KH Road under the limits of Wilson Garden Police Station.

The violent attack, which reportedly took place late on the night of May 22 on the city’s Double Road stretch, was captured on CCTV cameras and has since gone viral across social media platforms, raising fresh concerns over public safety and increasing incidents of road rage in the Silicon City.

According to preliminary information, another driver along with a group of associates allegedly intercepted the Uber cab in the middle of the road before forcibly pulling the cab driver out of the vehicle and attacking him in public view.

Police sources said the motive behind the attack is still unclear and investigations are currently underway to identify all those involved in the incident.

The disturbing CCTV footage reportedly shows the accused stopping the Uber cab before surrounding the driver and assaulting him mercilessly on the roadside. A young woman standing nearby during the incident was also seen witnessing the violent attack, which unfolded in full public view.

The visuals have sparked widespread reactions online, with social media users expressing concern over the growing frequency of violent street assaults in Bengaluru.

Authorities stated that the attackers appeared unconcerned about the presence of bystanders as they allegedly continued assaulting the driver aggressively in the middle of the road.

“Police have begun examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the accused involved in the assault,” officials stated.

Wilson Garden Police Begin CCTV Investigation

Officers from the Wilson Garden police station rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the attack and conducted a preliminary inspection of the area.

Although no official complaint had been filed at the time of reporting, police have reportedly taken the matter seriously due to the severity of the assault and the circulation of CCTV footage online.

Investigators are now scanning footage from multiple surveillance cameras installed around KH Road and nearby junctions to trace the movements of the accused and identify the vehicles involved in the incident.

Police officials are also reportedly verifying the registration numbers of both the Uber cab and the suspected attackers’ vehicle as part of the ongoing investigation.

Road Rage and Public Safety Concerns Rise in Bengaluru

The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over violent road rage cases and public safety in Bengaluru, especially during late-night hours.

Residents and commuters have increasingly raised questions over aggressive behaviour on city roads, with several recent cases involving physical assaults, reckless driving and confrontations being reported across Bengaluru.

Authorities are expected to initiate further legal action once the accused are identified and statements from the victim and witnesses are formally recorded.
