Ballia: A horrifying incident has surfaced from Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh where a nine-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by two minor boys from her own village, police officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The case was registered after the victim’s father filed a complaint at Haldi Police Station alleging that the accused minors lured the child and sexually assaulted her while she was grazing goats outside the village on the evening of May 23.
According to police sources, the complaint also mentioned that casteist slurs were allegedly used during the incident, intensifying the seriousness of the case.
Ballia Gang Rape Case Shocks Uttar Pradesh
Officials said an FIR has been registered under relevant sections related to sexual assault against a minor and offences under laws dealing with caste-based abuse and atrocities.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage in the region, with locals demanding strict action and speedy justice for the victim.
Police teams have initiated an investigation and are currently recording statements from the victim’s family members and other witnesses connected to the case.
“The matter is under investigation and legal action is being taken as per law,” a police official said.
