Women's empowerment and legal awareness session organised at the Bukkapatna Government First Grade College of Tumakuru District
Tumakuru: “Awareness creates strong women and a strong society,” speakers said during a women empowerment and legal awareness program organised at Government First Grade College, Bukkapatna, in Tumakuru district on May 18.
The “Departmental Scheme and Acts Awareness Program” was conducted in collaboration with the Women and Child Development Department, Tumakuru, the Women Empowerment Department and the District Legal Services Authority with the objective of educating students about women’s rights, safety, health, education and various government welfare schemes.
The event was presided over by Prof. Dharanendra Kumari H. R., Principal of Government First Grade College Bukkapatna.

Chief guests at the event included Hariprasad C., Officer of the Women and Child Development Department, Dr. Khalida Khanam, social worker and coordinator of the Women Empowerment Center, Shri Shashidhar H. G., District Liberation Coordinator, and Shri Gangadhar H. L., PMMVY Program Coordinator.
During the awareness session, the speakers highlighted the importance of women’s safety, legal protection, healthcare, education and equal opportunities in society. Students were also informed about several state and central government schemes available for women welfare and empowerment.
The resource persons stressed the need for awareness among youth to ensure gender equality and social responsibility in educational institutions and society.
“Awareness creates strong women and a strong society. Students must understand their rights and responsibilities,” speakers said during the program.
Women Rights and Legal Awareness Session
Faculty members Sharvari S. K., Satish, A. M. Srinivas and Narendra Babu actively participated in the event and contributed to the successful organisation of the program.
A large number of male and female students attended the awareness session and interacted with officials to gain information regarding legal rights, welfare initiatives and women empowerment programs.
Organisers stated that the event successfully created awareness among students regarding women empowerment, legal literacy and government support systems available for women.
