Minor boys rescued at railway station after alleging physical abuse and forced labour inside institution

Tumakuru: A disturbing child welfare case has surfaced in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district after 24 minor boys from Bihar were rescued while allegedly trying to flee an educational institution where they claimed they had been facing physical abuse and forced labour.

The incident came to light after the children, aged between 8 and 17 years, were found at Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station while reportedly attempting to return to their families in Bihar.

According to preliminary police findings, the children had allegedly escaped from a madrasa located in Tumakuru district after they were unable to endure repeated mistreatment any longer.

Children Reveal Disturbing Allegations
Officials from the Railway Protection Force noticed the group of children at the railway station and began questioning them. During interaction with authorities, the children allegedly revealed that they were being subjected to physical punishment, intimidation, and forced manual work inside the institution.

According to the children's statements, they were allegedly made to perform physically demanding tasks, including construction-related labour inside the campus premises.
“We wanted to go back home,” the children reportedly told officials during initial questioning.
FIR Registered Against Religious Instructor
Following the rescue, authorities registered a case against an instructor identified as Moulali under provisions of the Child Welfare Committee, juvenile protection laws, labour laws, and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to child abuse and exploitation.

The rescued children have now been placed under the supervision of the Child Welfare Committee, where counselling and support measures are reportedly underway.

Investigation Continues
The case was initially documented by railway police before being transferred to local police in Tumakuru for a detailed investigation. Officials are now verifying the allegations, institutional conditions, and possible violations of child protection laws.
