Sameer Pramanik seeks justice as father Jagdish Pramanik remains untraced since October 2024, serious questions raised over lack of investigation by Tiruldih police

Saraikela: A deeply concerning missing person case from Jharkhand has resurfaced after over one and a half years of alleged police inaction, with the family of Jagdish Pramanik still awaiting any breakthrough in his disappearance from Bengaluru in October 2024.

According to the complaint filed by his son, Sameer Pramanik, Jagdish Pramanik, a resident of Tiruldih in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, had travelled to Nelamangala, Bengaluru, on October 18, 2024, along with an acquaintance identified as Sudhir Gop. He reportedly reached Bengaluru on October 21, 2024.

Family Alleges Negligence by Police Authorities
Speaking to NewsFlash Daily™, Sameer Pramanik alleged continuous neglect by the police authorities and a lack of coordination between Jharkhand and Karnataka officials.

“The police are neglecting us and not responding properly. We have approached them many times, but they have ignored us. We also contacted my father’s acquaintances, who claimed a complaint was filed at the Nelamangala police station, but there has been no response. Something is not right. I just want my father to return safely,” he said.

When NewsFlash Daily™ contacted Tiruldih police, officials failed to provide any information and declined to respond to the call.

Disappearance in Bengaluru’s Nelamangala Remains a Mystery
As per the complaint, Jagdish Pramanik stepped out of his accommodation on October 22, 2024, at around 4 PM for a walk and never returned. His mobile phone has remained switched off since that evening, with no trace of his movements thereafter.

Despite initial claims of local search efforts, the family states that no concrete leads have emerged even after 18 months, intensifying fears of an untoward incident.

“It has been more than a year and a half, and we still have no information. We fear something serious may have happened,” the family stated.

Allegations of Police Inaction
The family has raised serious concerns over the lack of progress in the investigation, alleging that Tiruldih police have failed to take effective or sustained action in the case. Registered under Case No. 07/24, the matter has reportedly seen minimal development since its filing.

Repeated appeals by the family for updates and action have allegedly gone unanswered, leaving them in prolonged distress and uncertainty.

Call for Immediate Intervention
The family is now demanding urgent intervention from higher authorities, urging police departments to reopen the case with priority and ensure inter-state coordination, particularly with Bengaluru police, where the disappearance occurred.

Experts highlight that in missing person cases involving travel across states, timely response, digital tracking, and coordination between jurisdictions are critical, and delays can significantly reduce the chances of locating individuals.

Growing Concern Over Missing Persons Handling
This case brings attention to broader systemic concerns regarding the handling of missing persons cases in India, where families often face delays, a lack of communication, and limited investigative progress.

As of now, no official statement has been issued by the concerned police authorities regarding the current status of the investigation. The family continues to seek answers, hoping for a breakthrough even after 18 months of uncertainty.
