A newly married employee has alleged sexual harassment, mental abuse and workplace humiliation at a TCS unit in Nashik. Police action and internal inquiry are now intensified

Mumbai: Serious allegations of workplace harassment have surfaced from a unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where a newly married woman employee has accused colleagues of repeated harassment, inappropriate comments, unwanted physical contact, and mental intimidation.

The allegations, which reportedly emerged from the company’s Nashik office, have triggered police action, internal scrutiny, and a wider debate on women’s safety in corporate workplaces.

According to the complaint, the woman joined the company as an associate with hopes of starting a successful career. However, she alleged that within days of joining, the work environment became distressing and hostile.

Personal Questions and Public Humiliation Alleged
The complainant stated that during training sessions, certain colleagues allegedly asked intrusive personal questions unrelated to work, including questions about her marriage and private life.

She also alleged that mocking nicknames were used publicly, causing embarrassment and emotional distress.
“The complaint suggests repeated behaviour that made the workplace intimidating and unsafe.”
These claims have not been independently verified in court, and investigations are ongoing.

Festival Day Incident and Unwanted Contact Claims
The employee further alleged that during a festive occasion when she wore a saree to the office, a colleague pulled part of her saree in a public area, leaving her shocked and humiliated.

She also accused another co-worker of repeatedly sitting too close, touching her without consent, and engaging in inappropriate physical behaviour.

Such allegations, if proven, may amount to serious violations of workplace conduct rules and criminal law.

Multiple Complaints, Police Cases Registered
Reports indicate that several women may have raised similar complaints. Police in Nashik have reportedly registered multiple FIRs and made arrests connected to the broader case.
Authorities are now examining whether there was a pattern of harassment or coercive behaviour in the workplace.
Political Reaction and Investigation
Devendra Fadnavis reportedly described the matter in strong terms and called for a serious investigation. The comments have increased public attention on the case.

Company Response
Tata Consultancy Services has reportedly suspended certain employees linked to the allegations and formed an internal oversight committee to review the matter.

At the same time, family members of one accused person have claimed the matter is linked to office rivalry and denied wrongdoing.

As the probe continues, all sides are expected to present evidence, and legal findings will determine responsibility.
