Jashpur: A tragic aviation disaster struck Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district on Sunday after a private jet reportedly crashed into a hill slope and burst into flames, killing the pilot and co-pilot on board.
The crash occurred in the Jashpur-Narayanpur region, where the aircraft went down near a forested hillside, sending up massive smoke and fire visible from a distance.
Authorities rushed to the spot and launched rescue and recovery operations.
Jet Hit Hill Before Crashing
Initial reports suggest the aircraft may have struck the Ara hill range before losing control and crashing.
Witness visuals circulating on social media showed thick black smoke and intense flames emerging from the wreckage in the hilly terrain.
Officials said the aircraft came down in a difficult forest zone, complicating rescue access.
“The jet appears to have collided with elevated terrain before impact,” sources said.
Two Pilots Confirmed Dead
Preliminary information indicates that the pilot and co-pilot both died in the crash.
Their identities had not been officially disclosed at the time of reporting.
Authorities are also verifying whether any additional passengers were on board during the flight.
Crash Site Near Forest Area
According to local reports, the accident took place in the Ratanpahli forest area near Khurasgarh village.
The aircraft was reportedly flying at a relatively low altitude shortly before the crash, though officials have not confirmed exact flight details.
Police have taken custody of the bodies and secured the area for technical inspection.
Probe Underway Into Cause
The black box and flight records, if recovered, may provide crucial clues.
