A joyous wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district turned into a scene of panic after a stray dog stormed the venue, biting over 60 guests and triggering stampede-like chaos during the bride’s farewell ceremony

Lucknow: What was meant to be a memorable and emotional wedding celebration transformed into a shocking nightmare after a stray dog attack at a wedding venue in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district left more than 60 people injured, including women, children, and elderly guests.

The incident occurred during the bride’s farewell ceremony, commonly considered one of the most emotional moments of an Indian wedding. As family members and guests gathered to bid goodbye to the bride, a stray dog suddenly entered the banquet hall and began attacking people indiscriminately.

Stampede-Like Panic Inside Wedding Hall
According to eyewitnesses, the attack happened at Abhinandan Banquet Hall on Bilsi Road, located under the jurisdiction of Bisoli Police Station. The dog reportedly rushed into the crowded venue and started biting whoever came in its path.

Within moments, the atmosphere of celebration turned into fear and confusion. Guests screamed and ran for safety, while women and children tried to escape the hall. In the panic, several people slipped and fell, while others suffered injuries in a stampede-like rush.
“People had no idea what was happening. Everyone was trying to save themselves,” said a local witness.
Dog Continued Rampage Outside Venue
The dog’s violent spree did not stop inside the marriage hall. Witnesses said the animal later ran onto the road and attacked passersby, shopkeepers, and nearby residents.
It then reportedly moved toward a nearby village, where it also bit cattle and livestock, creating fresh panic among villagers.
Authorities confirmed that victims ranged in age from a 9-year-old child to a 66-year-old elderly person, highlighting the scale and randomness of the attack.

Over 100 Rushed for Rabies Vaccination
All injured individuals were immediately taken to the Bisoli Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.

Arvind Verma, Medical Officer at the CHC, said around 109 people registered for anti-rabies vaccination on the same day. Of them, more than 60 were guests who attended the wedding ceremony.

Doctors treated the injured and later discharged them after primary medical care and vaccination procedures.

Residents Furious Over Civic Negligence
The shocking incident has triggered widespread anger among local residents, who accused municipal authorities of failing to control the growing stray dog menace.

Locals questioned how dangerous stray animals were roaming freely despite funds being allocated in municipal budgets for animal management and sterilization drives.
Many residents demanded urgent action, saying such negligence could lead to even deadlier
incidents in crowded public places.

Administration Orders Immediate Action
After receiving information about the attack, Additional District Magistrate Arun Kumar directed the Executive Officer of Bisoli Municipality to immediately resolve the issue and trace the dog responsible for the attack.

Officials have reportedly been instructed to intensify stray dog monitoring and prevent similar incidents in the future.
