Iranian MPs signal readiness for preemptive attack, reject nuclear demands, warn Gulf nations of severe fallout if conflict escalates

Tehran: Tensions between Iran and the United States have sharply escalated after senior Iranian lawmakers issued strong warnings of a possible preemptive strike, alongside rejecting key international demands on nuclear policy and regional security.

A member of Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Fadahossein Maleki, stated that Tehran’s armed forces are fully prepared to act decisively if required.

“A preemptive attack has its own specific conditions, and we will carry it out whenever necessary,” Maleki said, underlining Iran’s military readiness and strategic posture.

Nuclear Demands and Strait of Hormuz Dispute
In a parallel statement, another committee member, Mahmoud Nabavian, revealed that negotiating parties have allegedly demanded a 20-year halt to Iran’s uranium enrichment and a role in managing the critical Strait of Hormuz.

He further claimed that demands included handing over Iran’s enriched uranium, a move Tehran views as unacceptable.

“We are not people of compromise or surrender. We are people of battle until final victory,” Nabavian said, signalling a hardline stance against Western pressure.

Warning to Regional Countries
Nabavian also issued a direct warning to Gulf nations, stating that if any attack on Iran originates from their territory, the consequences would be severe and far-reaching.

“If Iran is attacked from regional soil, no country in the region will have security,” he warned.

He added that targeting Iran’s water or power infrastructure could trigger widespread disruption, claiming that “the whole region will fall into complete darkness,” highlighting the potential for a large-scale regional crisis.

No Scope for Talks or Ceasefire
According to Iranian officials, at the current stage, neither negotiations nor a ceasefire holds relevance, indicating a breakdown in diplomatic engagement and an increasing likelihood of confrontation.

Rising Global Concern
The statements come amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a critical chokepoint for global oil supply. Any escalation could have serious economic and security implications worldwide.
