Shivamogga: A tragic incident has shaken Sagar town, where a young girl lost her life after being bitten by a cobra while playing outside her house in Ward 31, raising serious concerns over snake intrusion in residential areas.


According to initial reports, the incident occurred a few days ago when the child was playing in front of her home in S.N. Sagar Nagar locality. The girl was suddenly bitten by a cobra, triggering panic among family members who rushed her immediately to Sagar Hospital for first aid.


Shifted to Shivamogga, Succumbs During Treatment
As her condition deteriorated, doctors referred her to Megan Hospital in Shivamogga for advanced treatment. Despite all efforts by medical teams, the girl could not survive and succumbed to the effects of the venom, leaving the family devastated.


MLA Visits Family, Assures Support
In a gesture of solidarity, Sagar Assembly constituency MLA Gopalakrishna Belur visited the bereaved family on Monday to offer condolences. The legislator interacted with the grieving parents, sharing their pain and assuring them of all possible assistance during this difficult time.

“No injustice should be done to the family. Ensure immediate financial assistance reaches them without delay,” the MLA instructed officials during his visit.

Financial Help and Official Intervention Promised
Demonstrating humanitarian concern, the MLA extended personal financial assistance to the victim’s family. He also spoke to concerned officials over the phone, seeking a detailed report on the incident and directing them to expedite relief measures.


Residents Demand Action Against Snake Threat
The shocking death has sparked fear among residents of Ward 31, who have urged authorities to take urgent preventive measures to control the increasing presence of snakes in residential zones. Locals have called for immediate intervention, including habitat clearance and safety awareness drives.


Several local leaders, including former municipal president Usha, and prominent figures such as Jairam, Suresh Babu, Dinakar, Nagaraj Gudemane, Ganapathy Mandagale, Madhumalathi, and Parvathamma, were present during the MLA’s visit.
