Midnight fire near Rajkumar Memorial triggers panic as flames engulf LED godown, spread to nearby PG and homes; vehicles gutted, structural damage reported
Bengaluru: A massive fire broke out late at night at a godown storing LED screens and banners in Nandini Layout, sending shockwaves across the area and raising fresh concerns over fire safety in densely populated localities.
The incident occurred at the Blue Leaf LED godown near Rajkumar Memorial, where the blaze is suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit, according to preliminary inputs.
Fire Engulfs Vehicles, Spreads Rapidly
The intensity of the fire was such that vehicles parked outside the godown, including a Bullet motorcycle and a Bolero pickup, were completely gutted. Thick smoke and flames quickly spread beyond the warehouse, alarming nearby residents.
Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and launched an immediate operation to bring the situation under control. After a prolonged effort, firefighters managed to douse the flames and prevent further escalation.
50 Women Rescued from Nearby PG
In a dramatic rescue operation, nearly 50 women residing in a four-storey ladies’ PG building adjacent to the godown were safely evacuated. The fire had spread to the PG building, creating panic among occupants.
Authorities confirmed that all residents were rescued without injuries, averting a potential tragedy.
Severe Damage to Surrounding Houses
The blaze also impacted nearby residential structures, with walls developing cracks and window panes shattering due to the heat and impact. Several houses in the vicinity suffered extensive damage, highlighting the destructive scale of the fire.
Probe Underway, Safety Concerns Raised
While a short circuit is suspected to be the cause, officials are expected to conduct a detailed investigation to determine the exact reason behind the incident.
