Massive discrepancy in English marks shocks Sringeri student Ramdatta Sharma, parents allege negligence in evaluation and demand immediate correction from board authorities
Chikkamagaluru: In a serious case of alleged evaluation error following the SSLC Results 2026, a student from Sringeri in Karnataka has reportedly been awarded drastically lower marks than what he actually secured, triggering outrage and concern over the credibility of the examination process.
Ramdatta Sharma, a student of Ramakrishna English Medium School in Sringeri, was expected to score 92 marks in English, but his official result reflected only 48 marks, allegedly due to a major data entry mistake by evaluators.
However, during the final result processing, evaluators reportedly entered only 28 marks instead of 72 in the external section. As a result, the system calculated the total as 48 marks (20 internal + 28 external), significantly impacting the student’s overall performance.
This glaring mismatch has raised serious questions about the accuracy, verification mechanisms, and accountability in the SSLC evaluation system.
“This is nothing less than playing with a student’s future. Such negligence cannot be tolerated,” the family expressed in anguish.
The error has reportedly caused mental stress and uncertainty for the student, who had performed well but now faces an incorrect academic record.
Education experts emphasise that timely intervention is crucial, as such discrepancies can impact admissions, merit rankings, and career opportunities.
The incident once again highlights the urgent need for robust verification systems, transparency in evaluation, and accountability mechanisms within the examination framework.
Authorities are yet to respond officially to the complaint.
