Cubbon Park police uncover shocking links of assault, interstate rivalry and death threats behind Suresh Kumar Purohit’s suicide, FIR registered against five accused

Bengaluru: In a shocking development, the mysterious suicide of a man in Cubbon Park has taken a dramatic turn, with police uncovering a trail of assault, intimidation and interstate rivalry that allegedly pushed the victim to take the extreme step.

The deceased, identified as Suresh Kumar Purohit, a native of Rajasthan, was found hanging in the park nearly 20 days ago. What initially appeared to be a case of suicide has now emerged as a disturbing sequence of violence and threats, prompting police to register an FIR against five individuals.

Investigation Reveals Assault and Threats
According to the police probe, Suresh Kumar’s death was not an isolated act but the result of sustained physical assault and repeated death threats. Investigators revealed that he had been beaten, punched and mentally harassed, ultimately driving him to suicide.

“He was threatened with dire consequences and physically attacked. The pressure appears to have forced him into taking this extreme decision,” sources said.

Rajasthan Dispute Spilt Into Bengaluru
The roots of the case trace back to Rajasthan, where Suresh Kumar had an altercation with a man identified as Jabararam. The dispute escalated into a violent clash, with both sides allegedly attacking each other.

Following the confrontation, Jabararam reportedly threatened Suresh Kumar, claiming he would “teach him a lesson” with the help of associates in Bengaluru.

Planned Attack in Bengaluru
Police investigations indicate that both men later arrived in Bengaluru, with Jabararam allegedly coordinating with his associates—Praveen, Bhavesh, Nitesh and Mukesh—to target Suresh Kumar.

Suresh, sensing danger, had reportedly informed his brother about the threats and the looming attack. Despite this, he was allegedly assaulted by the accused when he stepped out after a meal at a hotel in the city.

Family Complaint Leads to FIR
Following the incident, Suresh Kumar’s brother, Vasanram, filed a formal complaint, alleging that continuous harassment and assault led to his brother’s suicide.

Acting on the complaint, Cubbon Park police registered an FIR against five accused, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.

From Minor Dispute to Tragic Death
What began as a seemingly trivial dispute in Rajasthan spiralled into a chain of violence across state lines, culminating in a tragic death in Bengaluru. The case has raised serious concerns about interstate criminal coordination and delayed intervention.

Police officials have confirmed that further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and secure arrests in connection with the case.
