Two separate Lokayukta operations in Karnataka led to the arrest of officials allegedly accepting bribes, including an SDA in Bengaluru and police personnel in Bagalkot district

Bengaluru: In a major anti-corruption crackdown, Karnataka Lokayukta officials conducted two separate trap operations, leading to the detention of government and police personnel accused of accepting bribes.

The cases from Bengaluru and Bagalkot have sparked attention because those entrusted with enforcing rules are themselves under scrutiny.

SDA Caught While Taking a Bribe in Bengaluru
In one case, an SDA (Second Division Assistant) working at the Department of Animal Husbandry office in Hebbal, Bengaluru, was allegedly caught while accepting a bribe.

The official, identified in reports as Mudasir, was accused of demanding money to process a final departmental order connected to an inspector from Vijayapura district.

Lokayukta officials allegedly trapped him while he was receiving Rs 10,000.
“The accused was reportedly caught red-handed during the operation.”
He was taken into custody for questioning.

PSI and Constable Held in Bagalkot
In another case from Bagalkot district, a Police Sub-Inspector and a constable attached to Kerur Police Station were allegedly trapped while receiving a bribe.

The officers were identified in reports as Bhimappa Rabakavi and Santosh Biradar.
Investigators allege they demanded money in connection with the release of a seized motorcycle tied to a gambling-related case.
Following a complaint, Lokayukta officers conducted a trap and allegedly caught them while accepting Rs. 1.70 lakh.

Lokayukta Intensifies Action
These back-to-back cases underline continued anti-corruption monitoring in Karnataka.

Officials often use trap operations after receiving formal complaints and verifying allegations.

Legal Note
The allegations remain subject to investigation and court proceedings. Final guilt or innocence will be determined through due legal process.
