Mukhyamantri Chandru urges the Karnataka government to move beyond promises, calls for funding, teacher training, and infrastructure overhaul in public education
Bengaluru: In the wake of the recent SSLC results, the Karnataka unit of the Aam Aadmi Party has intensified its push for comprehensive education reforms, with state president Mukhyamantri Chandru addressing an open letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The letter emphasises that education-related guarantees and reform announcements must go beyond advertisements and translate into concrete action on the ground, especially at a time when concerns over learning outcomes have resurfaced following SSLC performance trends.
The letter noted that initiatives such as free electricity and water, along with quality education and healthcare, have now become central to political discourse, attributing this shift to AAP’s policy interventions.
However, the party cautioned that policy announcements without execution risk remaining symbolic, urging immediate steps for implementation.
AAP urged the Karnataka government to increase funding allocation for the education sector, warning that without sufficient financial backing, reform promises may fail to materialise.
It stressed that systematic teacher capacity building is essential to effectively implement reform measures and improve classroom outcomes.
The party urged the government to prioritise school infrastructure upgrades over promotional campaigns, drawing parallels with the infrastructural improvements seen in Delhi’s government schools.
AAP argued that true reform requires universal access to quality education, ensuring that every government school benefits from policy interventions, rather than a select few.
It urged the government to focus on improving learning outcomes and academic standards, rather than artificially inflating results.
“Promises have value only when they are implemented. The people of Karnataka expect results, not just announcements,” Chandru stated in the letter.
The party expressed hope that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would act on these recommendations and deliver tangible improvements in the state’s education system.
