Serious allegations of rape and blackmail surface against gym trainer, protests erupt in Hubballi as police register cases and begin probe
Hubballi: A sensitive and controversial case has emerged in Hubballi, where a young woman has levelled serious allegations of sexual assault and blackmail against a gym trainer, triggering protests and tension in parts of the city.
The issue escalated in the jurisdiction of Old Hubballi Police Station, where activists gathered demanding strict legal action.
Allegations of Assault and Exploitation
According to the victim’s statement, she came into contact with the accused at a gym through mutual acquaintances. Over time, their interaction increased.
She alleged that the accused later called her to his residence, administered a substance in a drink, and sexually assaulted her. The woman further claimed that the accused recorded private moments and used them to blackmail her, leading to repeated harassment.
“He recorded videos and threatened me repeatedly,” the victim stated in her account.
Tension, Protests and Police Intervention
Following the revelation, protests broke out, and the accused was reportedly confronted by locals and later handed over to police. The situation intensified when both families allegedly got involved, leading to a brief clash before police intervened.
Cases have been registered at Vidyanagar Police Station and Ashok Nagar Police Station based on complaints from both sides.
Accused Denies Charges, Investigation Continues
The accused, currently undergoing treatment at KIMS Hospital, has denied the allegations through his family, who claim that the two were known to each other and the matter is being misrepresented.
Police officials have confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway, and statements from all parties are being recorded.
Authorities have urged the public to maintain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information, as the case remains under active probe.
