Haridwar: In a sensational and tragic incident, a young man allegedly died by suicide using an illegal firearm in the Jamalpur Khurd area of Haridwar, moments before police could reach him following a complaint linked to a dispute with a woman.
The incident, which occurred under the jurisdiction of Ranipur Police Station, has created panic and raised serious concerns in the locality.
Dispute Escalates Into Violence
According to reports, a young woman from Faizabad, currently staying with her sister in Haridwar and working in a local industrial unit, was on her way to work when the accused youth intercepted her.
What began as a verbal altercation soon escalated into a physical confrontation, after which the young man fled the spot.
Complaint Filed, Police Launch Search
The woman immediately approached a nearby police outpost and filed a complaint. Acting swiftly, police teams initiated a search operation and tracked the youth’s location.
Found Dead Before Arrest
When police reached the identified location, the young man was found dead on the spot. Preliminary findings suggest that he shot himself using an illegal weapon, which was later recovered by the police.
Officials stated that prima facie the case appears to be linked to a love affair dispute, though all angles are under investigation.
Weapon Recovered, Probe Continues
Police have seized the firearm and sent the body for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and sequence of events.
Senior officer Abhay Singh confirmed that the case is being thoroughly investigated to uncover the circumstances leading to the extreme step.
