Punjab: Emerging Indian footballer Ravinder Singh died suddenly after collapsing during a league match in Punjab, sending shockwaves across the Indian football community.

The tragic incident occurred in Nawanshahr district, where Ravinder Singh was playing a league match in Bachoura village. During the game, the player reportedly complained of sudden chest pain and collapsed on the field.

Teammates immediately rushed him to a nearby private hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Suspected Heart Attack
Initial reports suggest that the young footballer may have suffered a heart attack, although the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after a medical examination, officials said.

The unexpected death of the young athlete has left the football fraternity deeply saddened.

Who Was Ravinder Singh?
Ravinder Singh was a 25-year-old defender who had signed with Namdhari FC, a club competing in the I-League structure in Indian football.

He hailed from Ludhiana district in Punjab and was a resident of Majri village. Apart from football, Ravinder was also pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College in Garhshankar, where he was in his second year of studies.

Within Namdhari FC, he was considered a key player in the defensive lineup.

Football Clubs Express Condolences
In a statement shared on social media, Namdhari FC expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their player.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden demise of our footballer Ravinder Singh at such a young age. His untimely death is a huge loss to the football world. May his soul rest in peace, and may God give strength to his family.”

Following the tragic incident, the I-League authorities announced that a one-minute silence will be observed before the next round of matches in memory of the late footballer.

Clubs including Bengaluru FC, Minerva Academy FC, and Gokulam Kerala FC also expressed condolences and paid tribute to the young player.
