Expelled Vijayapura MLA says BJP in Karnataka is under control of ‘corrupt leadership’, hints at launching new political party
New Delhi: Expelled BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal on Monday intensified his attack on the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party, declaring that he will not rejoin the party until what he called a “corrupt family” exits its leadership in Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters at Karnataka Bhavan, Yatnal said there was no question of him returning to the BJP under the current leadership.
Yatnal launched a sharp attack on senior BJP leader B. S. Yediyurappa and his son B. Y. Vijayendra, alleging that the party in the state is under their control.
“The BJP is under the leadership of Yeddyurappa and Vijayendra. It is in the hands of the corrupt,” Yatnal told reporters.
The Vijayapura leader said he is considering forming a new political party and contesting upcoming elections independently.
“So, I will form a new party in the coming days and go to the polls,” he added.
Yatnal, who represents Vijayapura, has been openly critical of the BJP’s state leadership in recent months, leading to tensions within the party.
His latest remarks signal a potential new political development in Karnataka politics, especially if he goes ahead with plans to launch a separate party ahead of the upcoming elections.
Political observers say the move could impact political equations in northern Karnataka if Yatnal manages to attract support from disgruntled leaders and voters.
