Tumakuru: A senior official of the Social Welfare Department, Mallikarjuna (59), was found dead inside his office in Pavagada town of Tumakuru district, sparking widespread outrage and controversy. A video reportedly recorded before his death and a note recovered from the spot, have raised serious allegations against a higher officer, prompting an official investigation.
Mallikarjuna, who was serving as Assistant Director in the Social Welfare Department, was discovered inside the office premises after working hours. The shocking nature of the incident has created tension in the region, with the matter quickly gaining attention both locally and online.
Allegations Against Senior Official Surface
According to sources, a video attributed to Mallikarjuna has gone viral, in which he reportedly blamed his superior, Krishnappa, for mental harassment. In the recording, he is said to have expressed distress over workplace pressure while also mentioning that his family had supported him well.
“My family stood by me, but workplace pressure pushed me into distress,” the video reportedly states, intensifying the seriousness of the allegations.
Police Recover Note, Launch Investigation
Police officials from Pavagada visited the scene and have taken possession of a note believed to have been written by the deceased. Preliminary information suggests that the note includes references to workplace issues and certain financial matters. Authorities have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation to verify the claims and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Close to Retirement, Years of Service
Mallikarjuna, a native of Pavagada taluk, had been serving in the department for the past three years and was nearing retirement. The incident reportedly occurred after office hours when other staff had left, adding further complexity to the case.
