Anti-Corruption Sweep Intensifies as Investigators Conduct Early-Morning Searches in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Bagalkot and Other Locations
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Lokayukta intensified its anti-corruption drive on Thursday morning by conducting simultaneous raids across several districts of the state, targeting officials suspected of accumulating assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. The coordinated operation began early in the morning and involved multiple investigation teams examining residences, offices, and associated locations.
Officials said the action forms part of the agency’s ongoing effort to curb corruption within government departments and ensure accountability among public servants.
Locations Targeted in the Operation
According to preliminary information, Lokayukta teams carried out searches in multiple cities, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Bagalkot, where officials allegedly linked to corruption complaints are under scrutiny.
In Bengaluru, investigators conducted raids at several residential properties and office premises belonging to government officials located in different neighborhoods of the city.
In Mysuru, often referred to as Karnataka’s cultural capital, Lokayukta personnel launched parallel searches and began verifying documents believed to be connected to financial transactions and property ownership.
Meanwhile, in Bagalkot in North Karnataka, another team of investigators initiated similar searches as part of the statewide operation.
Authorities indicated that the investigation could expand to additional districts, depending on findings emerging from the ongoing searches.
Focus on Disproportionate Assets
The raids were carried out following specific complaints alleging the accumulation of wealth beyond legitimate income sources. Investigators are currently reviewing property records, bank passbooks, financial documents, and cash holdings to verify the authenticity of the assets linked to the officials under investigation.
“Search operations are being conducted based on credible complaints regarding disproportionate assets,” a source familiar with the probe said, noting that the verification process is still underway.
Investigation Still in Progress
Officials confirmed that the operation remains active, with teams continuing their searches and document verification. Authorities have not yet publicly disclosed the names of the officials involved or the total value of suspected illegal assets recovered during the raids.
Further details are expected to emerge once the search operations conclude and investigators complete the preliminary assessment of the seized materials.
The Lokayukta’s latest action highlights the agency’s renewed focus on strengthening transparency and accountability in public administration across Karnataka.
