A minor spark reportedly triggered a devastating fire at Advanced Cable Technologies factory in Bashettihalli industrial area, prompting a 22-hour firefighting operation involving over 15 fire engines
Devanahalli: A devastating fire accident at a cable manufacturing unit near Doddaballapur in Bengaluru Rural District destroyed an entire factory and caused losses worth crores of rupees, after flames continued to rage for nearly 22 hours before being brought under control by firefighting teams.
The incident occurred at the Advanced Cable Technologies factory located in the Bashettihalli Industrial Area, where a small spark reportedly triggered a massive blaze that quickly spread across the facility, engulfing the entire premises and burning huge quantities of cable wires and raw materials.
Fire officials confirmed that the blaze was finally brought under control after an extensive overnight firefighting operation involving multiple teams and vehicles.
Fire Breaks Out As Workers Prepare to Leave
According to preliminary reports, the fire broke out at around 5:30 PM on Sunday evening, just as workers were finishing their shifts and preparing to leave the factory.
Employees initially noticed flames emerging from one corner of the unit. Within minutes, the fire spread rapidly across the building due to the presence of highly flammable materials such as rubber and plastic used in cable production.
Workers and factory management attempted to control the fire using available safety equipment, but the flames intensified quickly, forcing everyone to evacuate the premises immediately.
Within a short span of time, the fire spread across the entire one-acre industrial facility, turning the factory into a massive inferno.
Thick Smoke and Explosions Shock Residents
The intensity of the fire created towering columns of thick smoke visible from the nearby highway flyover, alarming local residents and motorists who initially thought a major explosion had occurred in the industrial area.
Witnesses reported seeing flames rising high into the sky, while several cylinders inside the factory are believed to have exploded during the blaze, further intensifying the fire.
The massive flames continued to engulf the facility through the night, leaving the entire factory structure severely damaged.
Over 15 Fire Engines Deployed in 22-Hour Operation
Upon receiving information about the incident, firefighters rushed to the spot and immediately began efforts to control the blaze.
However, the fire proved extremely difficult to extinguish due to the large quantity of combustible materials stored inside the factory.
As the flames continued to spread, additional firefighting support was called in from nearby towns including Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Gauribidanur, Yelahanka, Whitefield, Nelamangala, and Devanahalli.
More than 15 fire engines and over 100 firefighting personnel were deployed to battle the blaze.
Firefighters even sourced water from a nearby agricultural pond belonging to a local farmer, continuously pumping water through the night in an attempt to control the flames.
After nearly 22 hours of relentless firefighting efforts, authorities finally managed to bring the blaze under control. Even after the flames were extinguished, smoke continued to emerge from several parts of the factory, requiring additional monitoring and cooling operations.
Crores Worth Materials Destroyed
The fire caused massive financial losses, as large quantities of finished cable wires, raw materials, machinery, and industrial equipment were destroyed in the blaze.
Officials estimate that materials worth several crores of rupees were completely burnt to ashes, though the exact financial loss is yet to be officially assessed.
The entire factory building has been severely damaged and rendered unusable due to the intensity of the fire.
Possible Safety Lapses Under Investigation
Preliminary observations suggest that lack of adequate fire safety precautions may have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.
Authorities suspect that insufficient emergency response systems or fire control infrastructure inside the facility might have made it difficult to contain the fire during its early stages.
Police from the Doddaballapur Rural Police Station have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire accident.
Officials say a detailed probe will reveal whether technical failure, negligence, or safety violations led to the devastating industrial fire.
