Koppal: A shocking case of illegal sale of intoxicating tablets has come to light in Gangavathi town of Koppal district, where police uncovered a racket involving the sale of tablets allegedly being used by youths for intoxication. The incident has raised serious concerns among residents and authorities.

According to police sources, the illegal activity was taking place at Krishna Fancy Store, located near Durga Devi Temple. The store was allegedly selling tablets under the pretext of pain relief medicines, which were reportedly being misused by some youths as intoxicants.

Tablets Sold at High Price
Police said the shop owner, identified as Kishan Kumar, was allegedly selling two tablets for around Rs300. Several youths were reportedly purchasing the tablets repeatedly to experience a ‘high’.
Investigations Disclosed that some users were crushing the tablets and injecting the substance directly into their veins using syringes in order to intensify the effect, a practice that posed severe health risks.
Incident Came to Light After Youth Fell Ill
The case surfaced after a youth’s health deteriorated due to the alleged drug use. The individual later filed a complaint with police, exposing the illegal operation.

Based on the complaint lodged by Sanganagouda, a resident of Lakshmi Camp area, police conducted a raid on the store in Gangavathi and detained the shop owner Kishan Kumar for questioning.

Police Probe Wider Drug Network
Officials suspect that the illegal supply of such tablets may involve local medical store operators, and further investigation is underway to identify others linked to the supply chain.

Residents have expressed concern that many youths in the city are getting trapped in drug abuse, demanding strict action against the individuals behind the alleged narcotics network.
