Chitradurga: In a tragic road accident that has shocked the police fraternity, three Reserve Sub-Inspectors (RSIs) were killed on the spot after a car collided with a lorry on National Highway 150A near Heggere village in Challakere taluk of Chitradurga district.


The officers were reportedly travelling from Bengaluru to Ballari when the devastating collision occurred. Two other police personnel who were in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.


Three RSIs Die on the Spot

According to preliminary information, the deceased officers have been identified as Manjunath, Ambareesh and Sachin. The impact of the collision was so severe that all three officers died instantly at the accident site.

The car in which the officers were travelling was completely crushed due to the powerful impact, leaving the accident spot in a state of panic and distress for some time.

Two Police Officers Sustain Serious Injuries

Meanwhile, PSI Eshwar and Reserve Sub-Inspector Mahantesh, who were also travelling in the same car, sustained serious injuries in the crash. They were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Sources said doctors are closely monitoring their condition.


Police Rush to Spot, Probe Underway

After receiving information about the accident, police from Aimangala Police Station rushed to the scene and conducted a detailed inspection of the accident site.

“A case has been registered and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident,” police sources said.

Authorities are examining whether overspeeding, driver fatigue, or other factors contributed to the deadly crash.

The tragic deaths of the three officers have sent shockwaves across the police department, with colleagues expressing grief over the sudden loss.

Police officials said further details regarding the accident and the condition of the injured officers will be known after the ongoing investigation by Aimangala police is completed.
