Police Seize Five Fighting Cocks, Motorcycle and Cash During Crackdown on Illegal Cockfighting in Bajathur Village


Uppinangady: In a crackdown on illegal cockfighting activities, the Uppinangady Police Station in Dakshina Kannada District arrested three individuals during a raid on an unauthorised cockfighting spot at Manikkala, Bajathur Village, Karnataka.


Police officials confirmed that the operation was carried out after receiving information about an illegal cockfight being conducted in the area.


Three Accused Taken Into Custody

The arrested individuals have been identified as Satish (38) from Sabalur, Koyila Village, Karnataka, Murali (30) from Kadambu, Vittal Padur Village, Karnataka, and Monappa K (36) from Kudattadka, Valal Village, Karnataka.

Police stated that the accused were allegedly involved in organising and participating in the illegal cockfight, which is banned under animal cruelty laws.

Police Seize Cocks, Motorcycle and Cash

During the raid, the police seized five fighting cocks, a motorcycle, cash, and other related materials believed to have been used in the illegal activity.


Authorities suspect that betting was also taking place during the cockfight, though further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the illegal gambling involved.


Raid Conducted During Routine Patrol

According to police sources, the raid was led by Sub-Inspector Sutesh K.P. of Uppinangady Police Station.

On Tuesday evening, while the officer and his team were on routine patrol duty towards Manikkala, Bajathur Village, Karnataka, they received information that an illegal cockfight was underway in the area.

When police personnel reached the location and attempted to conduct the raid, several individuals present at the site fled, taking advantage of the confusion. However, officers managed to apprehend three suspects at the scene.


Investigation Continues

Police officials stated that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in organising the illegal cockfight.

Authorities are also examining whether similar activities were being conducted regularly in the area.
