Greater Noida: A festive visit home for Holi ended in tragedy after a 25-year-old MBA student allegedly died by suicide by jumping from the 13th floor of her apartment in Greater Noida.
The deceased has been identified as Shivaka Thakral, daughter of Vinay Thakral, who lived with her family in Sharon Tower of Gaur Soundaryam Society under the jurisdiction of Bisrakh Police Station.
Police Rush to Spot After Early Morning Alert
According to police officials, the incident occurred on March 10, when authorities received information that a young woman had jumped from a multi-storey building in the residential society.
A police team immediately rushed to the spot and launched a preliminary investigation.
Officials said initial findings indicate that Shivaka jumped from the balcony of her flat located on the 13th floor.
The body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination as part of the legal procedure.
Student Had Returned Home to Celebrate Holi
Police said Shivaka was pursuing an MBA in Mohali and was also working there.
She had recently travelled to her family home in Greater Noida West to celebrate Holi with her family.
According to relatives, the family had spent the evening together and everything appeared normal before the incident.
On Monday night, all family members had dinner together before going to their respective rooms to sleep.
Family Shocked by Sudden Incident
The next morning, the family was reportedly informed by society security personnel that Shivaka had jumped from the building.
The news came as a shock to the family, who said they were unaware of any unusual behaviour or distress before the incident.
Police officials confirmed that no suicide note was recovered from the scene.
Investigation Underway
Authorities said preliminary findings suggest a case of suicide, although investigators are continuing to examine all possible circumstances.
So far, the family has not filed any formal complaint, and relatives have been unable to identify any specific reason that might have led to the incident.
Police officials said further legal action will depend on the post-mortem report and additional investigation findings.
