Chikkaballapur Milk Union (CHIMUL) shares profit with dairy farmers as rising demand for Nandini products boosts revenue; incentive to continue till May

Chikkaballapur: In a major relief and encouragement for dairy farmers, the Chikkaballapur District Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union (CHIMUL) has announced an additional payment of Rs 1.50 per litre of milk following a surge in demand for Nandini dairy products.
The cooperative union has reported profits of nearly Rs 2 crore, largely driven by the increasing market demand for Nandini milk and dairy products across Karnataka. As part of its farmer-centric approach, the union has decided to share a portion of the profit directly with milk producers in the district.
The incentive will be provided until the end of May, ensuring farmers receive higher returns for their milk supply during this period.
Rs 1.50 Increase Per Litre to Encourage Farmers
Speaking about the decision, CHIMUL President Manjunath Reddy confirmed that the cooperative has approved an additional Rs 1.50 per litre payment to farmers as a reward for their contribution to the union’s growth and profitability.
The decision aims to boost morale among dairy farmers and encourage sustained milk production in the district.
“The union has currently recorded profits of around Rs 2 crore. To support and motivate farmers, we have decided to provide an additional Rs 1.50 per litre until May,” Manjunath Reddy said while speaking to media.
Farmers Currently Receiving Nearly Rs 42 Per Litre
At present, CHIMUL is already offering Rs 36.90 per litre for milk supplied by farmers. In addition to this, the Karnataka state government provides a subsidy of Rs 5 per litre, which takes the total payment to Rs 41.90 per litre.
With the newly announced Rs 1.50 incentive, dairy farmers in Chikkaballapur district will effectively receive higher earnings for their milk supply, strengthening their financial stability.
CHIMUL Among the Highest Paying Milk Unions in Karnataka
According to cooperative officials, CHIMUL is already one of the milk unions offering among the highest procurement prices in Karnataka. The additional payment further reinforces the union’s commitment to supporting dairy farmers and strengthening the cooperative dairy sector.
The decision is expected to benefit hundreds of milk producers across Chikkaballapur district, providing them with additional income during the coming months.
Officials believe the move will encourage greater milk production and ensure a continued supply to meet the growing demand for Nandini products, which have seen increasing popularity among consumers.
