Security forces eliminate 15 militants in two separate intelligence-led operations in Balochistan’s Harnai district following reports of militant presence
Islamabad: Pakistani security forces have killed at least 15 militants during two separate intelligence-based operations in the restive province of Balochistan, according to the military’s media wing. The operations were conducted after intelligence agencies reported the presence of armed militants in the region, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The announcement was made by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), which stated that the coordinated actions were part of an ongoing effort by the Pakistan Army to curb militant activity in the volatile province.
Intelligence-Based Operations Launched After Militant Activity Reports
According to the ISPR, the intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were launched on Thursday after credible intelligence indicated the movement and presence of militants in specific areas of Balochistan. Acting on this information, Pakistani security forces carried out targeted operations aimed at neutralising suspected militant hideouts.
“Security forces conducted intelligence-based operations following reports of militant presence in the area, resulting in the elimination of multiple militants,” the ISPR said in a statement.
Operation Conducted in Harnai District
Officials confirmed that the first operation took place in the Harnai district of Balochistan, where security personnel engaged militants during a search and clearance operation. The encounter reportedly resulted in the killing of several militants after an exchange of fire.
The second operation was carried out in another location within the province, where additional militants were tracked down and neutralized as part of the broader security crackdown.
Security Efforts Intensified in Restive Province
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province by area, has witnessed periodic insurgent and militant activities, prompting authorities to conduct frequent intelligence-led security operations in the region.
Security officials said the latest operations are part of ongoing counter-militancy efforts aimed at dismantling militant networks and restoring stability in the region.
Authorities also stated that search and sanitisation operations are continuing in nearby areas to ensure that no militant elements remain active in the vicinity.
