22-year-old woman’s body found hanging in Bengaluru; complaint filed against husband over alleged dowry harassment
Bengaluru: A 22-year-old married woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the Yelahanka area of Bengaluru, with the victim’s family accusing her husband of murder linked to alleged dowry harassment.
The deceased has been identified as Shruti. Her husband, Pawan Kalyan, has been accused by her family of being responsible for her death.
Dowry Harassment Allegations
According to the victim’s relatives, Shruti had been facing continuous dowry harassment from her husband and his family members since their marriage about one and a half years ago.
Family members claim that frequent disputes had been occurring between the couple and the husband’s family due to the alleged harassment. They said that earlier, a compromise meeting (panchayat) had been conducted in an attempt to resolve the conflict.
Family Suspects Murder
Shruti’s family has alleged that the harassment continued even after the settlement. They claim she was assaulted and killed by strangulation using cloth, after which the accused allegedly staged the incident to appear like a suicide by hanging.
The allegations have raised serious concerns, and the victim’s relatives have demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
Police Register Case
Following a complaint from the family, a case has been registered at the Yelahanka New Town Police Station in Bengaluru.
Police officials have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of death and to verify the allegations made by the victim’s family. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
