Mathura (UP) : The body of a nine-year-old boy, who had been missing for nearly a week, was recovered from a pond in Mathura, triggering shock and grief in the region. The boy’s family has alleged that the death may be linked to occult practices, a claim that police say is being examined as part of an ongoing investigation.
Body Found in Pond After Week-Long Search
According to officials, the body of Dushyant, a Class 6 student, was found floating in a pond on Tuesday in Taroli Junabi village under the Chhata area. The child had gone missing on February 18, prompting a search by family members and local residents.
The discovery brought an abrupt end to hopes of finding the boy alive and has raised serious concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Family Alleges Occult Practices
Family members have alleged that Dushyant’s death may be connected to occult or ritualistic practices prevalent in the area. They have urged authorities to probe the case from all possible angles and ensure strict action if foul play is confirmed.
While police have not officially confirmed the allegations, they stated that no theory would be ruled out at this stage of the investigation.
Police Statement and Background Details
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat said the boy was originally from Agra district.
“The child had come from Bargawan village in Agra to stay with his mother at her parental home on February 10. He went missing on February 18, and his body was recovered from a pond on Tuesday,” the officer said.
He added that the police have registered a case and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death.

Police teams have begun questioning local residents and relatives, while forensic evidence is being collected from the spot. Authorities have assured the family that a thorough and impartial investigation will be conducted.
