The incident occurred on the busy Kanpur–Lucknow rail route, triggering shock and concern among local residents.
The incident occurred late Monday evening

Victims identified; deaths confirmed on the spot
Preliminary information revealed that the deceased has been identified as Yash Gupta (45) and his 14-year-old daughter. Initial findings suggest a case of suicide, but all aspects are being examined,” said the Inspector-in-Charge of Gangaghat police station, adding that further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances and possible reasons behind the incident.
No disruption to rail traffic after clearance
Railway officials confirmed that train movement on the route was briefly affected but later restored after necessary procedures and clearance of the track. The police are also coordinating with railway authorities as part of the ongoing inquiry.
