Nelamangala: According to police sources, the deceased, identified as Vidyajyoti, was residing with her parents in Nelamangala and was employed with Bosch, working from home at the time of the incident. Family members told investigators that an astrologer had recently warned them about their daughter’s lifespan, following which the household became emotionally distressed.

What Police Say
Officials said the family attempted to follow religious remedies suggested by the astrologer. Vidyajyoti was reportedly advised to observe a nine-day ritual and offer prayers to a local deity to counter the alleged dosha. The family had completed preparations for the concluding rituals when the incident occurred.
On the night of the incident, Vidyajyoti went to her room after dinner and did not respond for several hours, prompting concern. Police were alerted and rushed to the spot. She was later found unresponsive. The body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Family Background and Personal Life
Vidyajyoti, the second daughter of Umesh and Kavitha, was reportedly in a relationship with a young man from Kodagu. Family members stated that her marriage proposal had already been accepted, and wedding plans were being discussed before the incident.
“We are examining all angles, including the impact of superstition and psychological distress,” a senior police officer said, adding that statements from family members are being recorded.
A case has been registered, and police are probing the circumstances leading up to the death, including the role of superstition and external influence. Authorities have urged the public to avoid relying on unscientific predictions that can cause emotional harm.
