Bengaluru: Amid growing speculation over actor Darshan Thoogudeepa’s bail and possible political entry, the Swamiji of Kodimath has responded cautiously, stating that it would be inappropriate to comment while the case remains pending before the court.
Speaking at the ‘Simhapuriya Simha’ movie event in Bengaluru, the seer declined to engage in discussions about Darshan’s legal future.
“We should not comment on matters that are before the court. It speaks against the judiciary,” the Swamiji said, emphasizing the importance of respecting judicial proceedings.
At the same time, he expressed hope that divine blessings would guide the actor. When asked about speculation that Darshan may enter politics after securing bail, the Swamiji remarked, “Let’s see the situation after he comes out.”
Background of the Case
Darshan was arrested in June 2024 in Mysuru in connection with the alleged murder of Renukaswamy, a medical shop employee from Chitradurga. According to investigators, the victim was allegedly assaulted in a shed in Pattanagere and later succumbed to injuries. His body was recovered a day after the incident.
Darshan, along with several others, was named in the First Information Report. Actress Pavithra Gowda was also cited as an accused in the case.
The matter is currently under judicial consideration, and no official announcement regarding bail has been confirmed at the time of reporting.
