Mandya: Former Nagamangala MLA K. Suresh Gowda sustained serious injuries after the car he was travelling in met with a major accident near Basaralu village in Mandya district around midnight on Friday. The vehicle was completely damaged in the crash, and the driver is reported to be in critical condition.
The accident occurred under the jurisdiction of Basaralu police station when the former legislator was returning to Nagamangala after visiting Hosagavi village in Maddur. According to preliminary information, the car reportedly lost control late at night, left the road, and overturned, leading to severe damage to the vehicle.
Former MLA and Driver Injured
Locals who heard the crash rushed to the spot and rescued both Suresh Gowda and the driver, who were found injured at the scene. They were immediately shifted to a government hospital in Mandya for initial treatment.
Medical sources stated that Suresh Gowda sustained injuries to his head, face, hands, and legs. The driver’s condition is said to be critical. Both were later referred to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru for advanced medical care.
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

The mishap took place near Basaralu village in Mandya district at approximately 12 midnight. Authorities are examining whether overspeeding, poor visibility, or other factors contributed to the vehicle losing control.
