Young content creator Bonu Komali’s death sparks grief and questions as police probe emotional distress and relationship issues
Hyderabad: A tragic incident has shaken Hyderabad after a 21-year-old YouTuber and BSc student, identified as Bonu Komali, was found dead at her rented apartment. Komali, a native of Visakhapatnam, reportedly sent a final message to her mother saying “I love you so much” before her death, according to police sources. The case has been registered as a suspicious death, and investigations are underway.
What Happened: The Incident at a Glance
Komali had been living alone in an apartment in Hyderabad for nearly 11 months while pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at a private college. Alongside academics, she created lifestyle and personal content on YouTube, where she had built a modest following.
Last Message to Her Mother
According to officials, Komali sent a WhatsApp message early Monday morning to her mother, B. Satya Varalakshmi, who works in Kuwait. The message read: “I love you so much, mummy. Take good care of my younger brother.” Soon after, her phone was switched off, raising concerns among family members.
“The phone went unreachable shortly after the message. We are examining digital records to establish a clear timeline,” a senior police officer said.
Relationship Strain and Emotional Distress
Preliminary findings indicate that Komali had been in a three-year relationship with a 27-year-old software engineer, also a content creator. The pair reportedly separated recently following differences, after which Komali experienced significant emotional distress, police said. Investigators also noted that she had faced mental strain in recent months.
Investigation Underway
Komali’s body was sent to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police are analysing call records, messages, and other digital evidence, and recording statements from friends and neighbours to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
Authorities reiterated that the probe will be guided by both digital and physical evidence, and further details will be shared after forensic reports are reviewed.
