Security tightened at Red Fort, Secretariat and Assembly; police launch probe into alleged Khalistani-linked threat

New Delhi: A bomb threat targeting the Red Fort, Delhi Secretariat, and Legislative Assembly has triggered a high alert across the national capital after authorities received a warning via email reportedly sent in the name of a Khalistani group.

Following the threat, the Delhi Police launched an immediate investigation and began extensive search operations at key government buildings, including the Secretariat and the Assembly premises. Security personnel have been deployed in and around the Red Fort area, and surveillance has been significantly intensified.

Heightened Security Measures

Intelligence inputs have also raised concerns about a possible IED attack by the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. In response, authorities have strengthened security arrangements across sensitive areas of the city.

  • Tight vigil in Chandni Chowk and the surrounding markets
  • Increased security at major temples and religious places
  • Enhanced monitoring in crowded commercial hubs
  • Additional deployment of armed personnel in critical zones

Police teams are currently working to trace the origin of the threatening email and identify those responsible. Bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog teams have been pressed into service as part of precautionary checks.

Public Advisory Issued

Authorities have appealed to citizens to remain calm but vigilant, urging them to report any suspicious objects or activities immediately. Officials stated that the situation is under close monitoring and that all preventive measures are being taken to ensure public safety.

Delhi remains on high alert as investigations continue into the credibility and source of the threat.
