Violence escalates as two youths are brutally attacked by a notorious gang near Balekere; the victims are hospitalised, police probe is underway

Bengaluru: A shocking incident of rowdy violence has come to light on the outskirts of Bengaluru, just a day after a disturbing assault video from Mandya went viral on social media, triggering widespread fear and outrage across Karnataka.

According to preliminary police inputs and local sources, the incident occurred on the afternoon of the 22nd of this month near the Balekere climb area. A group of alleged rowdy-sheeters, identified locally by aliases such as Poultry Farm Gaja, Anthony Simon, Vinay, and their associates, were reportedly engaged in an “oil party” when the violence erupted.

Old Enmity Leads to Brutal Assault
A youth named Puneeth was allegedly targeted due to an old rivalry. Sources revealed that in a previous altercation, Puneeth had reportedly used pepper spray against Anthony Simon. This past conflict is believed to have triggered the attack. Puneeth was allegedly dragged towards a nearby lake and assaulted using sticks and sharp weapons, leaving him severely injured.

Local Resident Intervenes, Becomes Victim
During the assault, Raphael Anthony, a resident of Tataguppe village, intervened after witnessing the attack and questioned the gang, asking, “Are you hitting him?” This reportedly enraged the assailants, who then turned on Raphael.

Chased, Attacked, and Pushed Into a Ditch
Eyewitness accounts suggest that Raphael Anthony was chased, beaten, kicked, and eventually pushed into a ditch nearly 10 feet deep. Villagers rushed to the scene after hearing screams and managed to rescue him.

Victim Hospitalised With Fractures
Raphael Anthony sustained fractures to his arm and leg due to the brutal assault. He was later admitted to a nearby hospital with the help of local residents. Puneeth is also undergoing treatment for serious injuries.
“Such repeated incidents of unchecked rowdyism are creating panic among residents. Strict action must be taken to restore public safety,” said a local villager requesting anonymity.
Police officials confirmed that they have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Authorities are also examining possible links between this incident and other recent violent acts reported on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
