Brave German-bred army dog leads 2 Para Special Forces to terrorist hideout in Chhatru, Kishtwar; three Jaish-e-Mohammed militants killedKishtwar: Army dog Tyson played a crucial role in neutralizing three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in the rugged Chhatru area of Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, despite being shot in the leg during the operation.
The German-bred canine, part of the Indian Army’s 2 Para (Special Forces) unit, led troops to a well-concealed terrorist hideout. Upon approaching the location, the militants opened fire, but Tyson continued the mission, guiding soldiers precisely to the terrorists’ location.
Coordinated Operation with Security Forces
The counter-terror operation involved the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Indian Army special forces. Tyson’s precise tracking enabled the security forces to successfully neutralize three terrorists, including Saifullah, a JeM operative who had been evading capture in the region for over two years and survived at least 20 previous encounters with security personnel.
Two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and other arms were recovered from the slain terrorists, marking a significant success in the ongoing anti-terror operations in the area.

Tyson’s Heroic Role
Officials highlighted that the terrorists had been playing hide-and-seek in the mountainous terrain for months, eluding previous attempts by security forces. Tyson’s training and determination were pivotal in locating the hideout, ensuring the operation’s success despite his injury.
“Tyson’s bravery and precision were instrumental in this mission. Even after being shot, he led the team to the exact location, helping neutralize high-risk terrorists,” said an army spokesperson.
The dog has been lauded as a heroic member of the Indian Army, exemplifying the critical role of trained canines in counter-terror operations.
