Panaji: Tributes poured in following the reported death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and actor Randeep Hooda among those remembering the veteran performer and his contribution to Indian cinema and social service.


Prime Minister Modi, speaking about Patekar’s demise, described him as an exceptional artist who won audiences through a variety of roles. He also recalled the actor’s association with patriotic themes and his performances in films such as Parinda and Krantiveer.

“Like a ‘Parinda’, he soared through the vast skies of cinema,” Modi said, while highlighting Patekar’s portrayal of social issues through his films.

The Prime Minister also said Patekar’s silence could be as impactful as his speech and recalled his advocacy against what he described as anti-national elements. Modi paid tribute to the actor and expressed condolences to his family and admirers.

Nana Patekar Funeral To Be Held In Pune

The last rites of Nana Patekar are scheduled to be performed at his farmhouse in Donje, on the outskirts of Pune city, on Thursday.

According to Ganesh Thorat, CEO of Patekar’s social organisation Naam Foundation, the actor’s mortal remains are expected to reach Pune at around 5 pm.

The mortal remains will subsequently be kept for the last darshan, following which the final rites will be performed on the premises of his farmhouse.

Thorat said the last rites would be conducted with state honours.

The Donje farmhouse is located in Pune district, where the final farewell to the veteran actor is scheduled to take place.


President Droupadi Murmu Pays Tribute To Nana Patekar

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed grief over Patekar’s death and described his passing as a major loss to Indian cinema.

In a post on X, Murmu said Patekar’s powerful and deeply evocative performances brought a wide range of human experiences to the screen.

She recalled the characters portrayed by the actor and said they left a lasting impression on audiences.

Murmu also highlighted Patekar’s commitment to social service and said it reflected his concern for underprivileged sections of society.

The President expressed her heartfelt condolences to Patekar’s family and admirers.

Randeep Hooda Remembers Nana Patekar

Describing Patekar as an honest and fearless individual, Hooda said he was “a one-of-a-kind actor and human being”.
