A car returning to Chennai after a wedding crashed into a private omnibus near Thuraimangalam in Perambalur district, killing three people and injuring four.
Perambalur: Three people were killed and four others injured in a road accident on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway (NH-38) near Thuraimangalam in Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur district in the early hours of Thursday.
The victims were reportedly returning to Chennai after attending a wedding when their car crashed into the rear of a private omnibus travelling ahead. The impact left several occupants of the car seriously injured.
Perambalur Road Accident Occurs Near Thuraimangalam
Karthi, 38, from Orivayal village in Ramanathapuram district’s Mudukulathur taluk, was working in Chennai. He had travelled to his native village with his wife Surya and friends to attend his brother’s wedding.
After the wedding, the group began their return journey to Chennai early Thursday. When they reached the Thuraimangalam area, their car reportedly rammed into the rear of the private omnibus.
Kaja, also known as Kaleeswaran, from Orivayal village, and Prabhakaran from Rasikulam died at the accident spot. Karthi sustained critical injuries and was taken to Perambalur Government Hospital. He later died despite receiving treatment.
Four Injured, Bus Driver Detained For Questioning
Karthi’s wife, Surya, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital in Tiruchirappalli for further treatment. Car driver Kannadasan, John Kennedy and Sharanya are undergoing treatment at Perambalur Hospital.
Perambalur Town Police have registered a case in connection with the accident. Police have detained the private omnibus driver, identified as Rajaseelan, for questioning as part of the investigation.
The police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision on NH-38.
