Renukaswamy murder case accused Pavithra Gowda has been moved to a barrack housing five convicts following directions from a Bengaluru court

Pavithra Gowda, an accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, has been shifted to a less crowded barrack at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison following a court direction. The move came after her petition seeking better facilities and cleanliness.

Bengaluru: Pavithra Gowda, the A1 accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, has been shifted to a barrack housing five other convicts at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru.

According to reports, the jail authorities made the arrangement following directions from the Sessions Court. A Bengaluru court had earlier directed prison officials to consider moving Pavithra to a less crowded barrack.

The development comes after concerns were raised over the conditions in the barrack where she had been lodged. Reports said the barrack housed several prisoners and that inmates had to share toilet facilities.

Pavithra had reportedly approached the court seeking a transfer to a barrack with better facilities and cleanliness. The court subsequently directed the prison authorities to consider the request.

Pavithra Gowda Barrack Change Follows Prison Inspection

The change in her accommodation also comes amid increased scrutiny inside Parappana Agrahara Central Prison following the recovery of a mobile phone from former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is serving a life sentence at the prison.

A Bengaluru court sent Revanna and his prison mate Prathap Rai to two days of police custody in September in connection with the alleged use of a mobile phone inside the prison.

The investigation into mobile-phone use subsequently led to arrests of prison staff and inmates, according to reports.

Pavithra Gowda is facing trial in the Renukaswamy murder case. The case remains pending before the Bengaluru Sessions Court, with proceedings continuing.
