The body of newlywed Priyanka was recovered from the Hemavathi canal near Shravanabelagola on September 26, eight days after she reportedly entered the canal in Hassan.

Police and fire and emergency services personnel had been searching for Priyanka since September 19, after she reportedly entered the canal near Chikkanayakanahalli village in Channarayapatna taluk.

Priyanka's Body Recovered Near Shravanabelagola
According to the available information, Priyanka reportedly jumped into the Hemavathi canal in front of her husband, Rajshekhar, on the night of September 19.
Her body was recovered from the canal near Shravanabelagola after the water flow in the Hemavathi canal was stopped, allowing search teams to locate and retrieve her.
Police reached the spot following the recovery and conducted an inspection. The body was subsequently taken for further procedures.
Families Make Different Claims Over Priyanka’s Death
Following Priyanka’s disappearance, her parents alleged that Rajshekhar had pushed her into the canal. The allegation has not been established, and the circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.
Rajshekhar’s parents rejected the allegation and reportedly claimed that Priyanka knew how to swim. They also reportedly said that she had been married previously.
Police are investigating the circumstances leading to Priyanka’s death, including the allegations and claims made by both families.
